placenta previa

midway through this pregnancy we found out i had something called placenta previa.
dylan and i had never heard of this condition before. it means that the placenta is in the way of the cervix which means you need a c section or the mother or baby could die.
at first when we found out about this condition i was a little worried and sad but also realized there are much worse problems that are associated with pregnancy and if i needed to have a c section it wouldn't be the end of the world. for the last few months dylan and i and other loved ones have joined us in prayer hoping the placenta would move so that i would be able to have a vaginal delivery.

yesterday we had our ultrasound and found out that the placenta has moved away from the cervix and we can move forward with our plans for a vaginal delivery. yay!

while i was sitting in the waiting room to enter the ultrasound area i started getting really anxious and nervous. i didn't know for sure if dylan would be able to join me for the ultrasound and i really wanted him there. after waiting for about a half hour i looked up and saw him walking towards me and couldn't help but get emotional. it was a relief to have him there and i'm so grateful i get to have him by my side in life. when the ultrasound tech told us the placenta wasn't covering the cervix anymore dylan said, "lizzie! that is what we came here to hear."

we got to see this little profile image of our baby boy. he is estimated to be 3.7 lbs. so excited to meet him!

  3. Wonderful news for you! I know the feelings of worry and relief. Both Emma and I had the same thing in this pregnancy and both of ours moved! Not trying to downplay your experience and feelings, but throughout the process I learned how very very common it is and how it almost always moves! It bugs me that doctors get you all worried before they even know for sure. Ugh, I don't know what the "right" way to do it would be, but honestly I wish they hadn't even told me in our early ultrasound because by the second one it was completely resolved and wouldn't have even been an issue by the time I give birth. All that stress and anxiety was for nothing. Bleh.
